Following the Captain

This sermon emphasizes that true victory in life’s battles comes not from human strength or leadership, but from following God, the true and ultimate Leader. While Joshua was a capable military commander, the conquest of Jericho demonstrated that success came only when he and the people of Israel submitted to the authority and power of God—the "Captain of the Lord’s Host," identified as a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ. Israel’s role was not to conquer by their own might, but to obey God’s instructions in faith, even when the strategy seemed unconventional or difficult. The message draws a clear parallel for believers today: just as Israel was called to follow God into battle, we too must surrender our plans, trust in God’s power, and allow Him to lead if we are to overcome personal struggles, spiritual battles, and life’s uncertainties. Victory is not about our ability—it’s about following the One who is able.
