He Knoweth Not How

This sermon from Mark 4:26–29 teaches that gospel ministry is a shared work between believers and God, each with distinct roles that must be understood and honored. Christians are responsible for sowing the seed of the gospel through preaching, personal witness, prayer, and intentional outreach, but they cannot produce spiritual life or growth—that work belongs solely to God. Like the farmer who plants and then rests, believers must trust God to bring life and growth in His time and in stages, exercising patience with both themselves and others. At the same time, they must remain alert for moments when people are spiritually ready, responsibly harvesting when God’s work has matured. The central message is to faithfully do what God has commanded—sow, pray, wait, and watch—while trusting Him alone to give the increase.
