Shadow to Sunrise
This sermon, based on Amos 5:7–8, teaches that God has the power to turn life’s darkest, most hopeless situations (“the shadow of death”) into hope and restoration, as seen throughout Scripture—from figures like Abraham, Joseph, and David to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It argues that people’s struggles—whether personal crises, ongoing sin, or the threat of eternal death—are ultimately caused by sin, injustice, and misplaced devotion to worldly “idols” like success, pleasure, or distractions. Rather than turning to temporary solutions, the sermon calls listeners to repent, abandon sinful behaviors, and actively seek God through prayer, worship, and obedience. The central message is that only Jesus can deliver people from life’s troubles, transform their character through His power, and save them from eternal separation from God, offering true hope, change, and salvation to those who turn to Him.
